I have a commitment to providing affordable, child-centered, and professional legal services that promote parents actively parenting their children, not the courts. Each service I provide fulfills some part of this commitment. I am also passionate about providing legal counsel to mental health professionals.
I conceptualize family law cases from a unique perspective. I not only understand the legal issues involved in family law cases, but I understand the emotional responses family law cases elicit can be difficult on every member of the family, including the child or children involved.
Prior to practicing law, I practiced as a Licensed Marital & Family Therapist working with children, families, and couples. Today, I continue to practice as a Licensed Marital & Family Therapist in addition to my law practice.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2003 from Oklahoma City University and my Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy in 2005 from Southern Nazarene University. Prior to practicing law, I practiced as a Licensed Marital & Family Therapist and gained professional experience in a variety of clinical settings ranging from inpatient psychiatric settings with severely mentally ill adults and emotionally disturbed children to private practice with children, families, and couples. For the last several years, my practice has been almost exclusively comprised of children and families. As a therapist, my passion is working with children, families, and couples.
After beginning my career as a therapist, I returned to school to pursue my law degree. I received her Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University School of Law where I was a member of Phi Delta Phi (PDP) and served on Law Review. I also am graduate of the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Child Abuse & Neglect where I conducted research regarding domestic violence and child abuse. During law school, I also became a Certified Mediator. I have extensive training and experience working with children and families in the context of divorce and separation. With a strong educational and professional background in law, psychology, child development, and family systems, I have a passion for working with children and families in the forensic context and am also a trained forensic interviewer. .
I have served as a Board Member and Legislative Chair for the Oklahoma Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (OKAMFT). My other professional affiliations include the Family Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association (OBA), American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (AAMFT), Association of Family & Conciliation Courts (AFCC), and American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC).
